- Machine Man — based on Max Barry’s online book about a genius who replaces his body parts with machines. The full book will be released in Spring 2011 and Mark Heyman, who also wrote Black Swan, is adapting the screenplay.
The Tiger — Guillermo Arriaga-penned adaptation of a forthcoming book called The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival, possibly starring Brad Pitt. Jackie – a Noah Oppenheim script based on the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis starring Aronofsky ex Rachel Weisz. Serena — a big-screen adaptation of Ron Rash’s 2008 book Serena: A Novel possibly starring Angelina Jolie. Robocop — an R-rated reboot for MGM. Breaking The Bank — a gritty heist thriller based on “the daring robbery of the Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, a £53 Million Sterling score (around $86 million US) thought to be masterminded by former mixed martial arts fighter and UFC star ‘Lightning’ Lee Murray.” Screenwriter Kerry Williamson (who also adapted Denis Hamill’s novel Fork in the Road for Alexander Payne) is adapting the script. But could it be one of the projects that Aronofsky has wanted to make since becoming a director? A project titled Noah — a big screen adaptation of Noah’s Ark?
When Darren Aronofsky was 13-years-old, he won a United Nations poetry competition at his Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn school for a poem about the end of the world as seen through the eyes of Noah. And so started Aronofsky’s obsession with the biblical figure. In September 2008 we talked to Aronofsky about his idea for a film based on Noah
