Hot damn this is amazing! Amazing because the Schmoes, led by Mark and Kristian, along with Alicia Malone were able to talk briefly with Oscar nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK, ZOMBIELAND) about his latest movie THE DOUBLE. And in pure Schmoes fashion, they were also able to get a couple juicy bits from the actor about his controversial casting as Superman’s arch nemesis LEX LUTHOR.
While everyone knows now that Mr. Eisenberg was cast as the big baddie in Zach Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel, not many people know exactly how big his part will be in the movie – though Snyder and co. did a pretty good job at laying in the groundwork in MOS, showing little Easter Eggs that Lex and his LUTHORCORP were very present in this new world.
Speaking to the Schmoes about the script for the still untitled sequel (BATMAN VS SUPERMAN), Mr. Eisenberg told the Schmoes he was very impressed with the script, saying it was a GREAT script; which ultimately led to him taking on the iconic role.
Though the Schmoes couldn’t get much out of him (obviously) they did find out that Mr. Eisenberg will begin filming in exactly one month from now. The Schmoes did ask how long he would be filming for (which would give us a small indication of the size of his role) Mr. Eisenberg played coy and didn’t elaborate. A smart move and one I’m sure he/the filmmakers want to keep on the DL to, at least, give us all a surprise when we finally sit down in the theatre to watch the gigantic match-up between Supes, Bats and Mr. Luthor.
On the internet firestorm that followed after Jesse Eisenberg was cast, the Schmoes were able to get his take on the “controversy”. In a nutshell, Mr. Eisenberg stays far away from the internet and with it, the comments that take personal shots at the actor himself. He mentioned that he doesn’t care about what people say about him or his casting. He doesn’t read that kind of stuff instead, opting to focus on the character, the prep and the script only and not what people think of him.
Solid guy.
The interview was a good one, and though we only got these small nuggets of awesomeness from the actor: how he loves the script, his shooting in a month and his dedication to the role as shown through his insistence of avoiding the internet haters, the Schmoes were absolutely impressed with the actor’s candor and excitement for his take on the legendary villain.
